Silicon Arrays and Sensors: Opportunity, Progress, and Challenge
In this talk, we will discuss some of the recent advances in the field of silicon photonics for arrays and sensors. We will discuss some of the opportunities and challenges for the silicon-photonics system and go over several different approaches for optical phased array receiver and transceiver design. We will discuss dense and sparse arrays and demonstrate several examples of how they can overcome some of the existing system limitations. We will also talk about other silicon photonics sensing platforms, such as recently demonstrated nano-photonics optical gyroscopes.
