Recent Progress Toward Automotive Lidar on a Chip

Development of a lidar sensor for automotive application is key to the realization of fully autonomous vehicles (AV’s). In addition to meeting the performance parameters required in support of AV perception and localization, an important consideration for this sensor is cost. This implies production of the lidar with semiconductor manufacturing methods, a process that has been underway in the past few years. In this talk challenges in the development of a lidar on a chip will be discussed, and recent progress in this fast moving field will be presented.
