New higher bandwidth, higher peak-average 5G NR waveforms require fundamental power amplifier improvements in order to support the key linearity requirements needed in system. These 3GPP requirements must be met while trying to balance higher PC2 system power and simultaneously achieving higher efficiencies. This presentation will focus on the key requirements and the design related subtleties that make wideband waveforms a challenge. Topics include IMD, and linearity constraints, with a focus on AM/AM, AM/PM, Load Lines, Wideband Waveforms, Bias Bandwidth, and Memory.
