Artificial Neural Networks for Microwave Design: An Overview
Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) are information processing systems inspired by the ability of human brain to learn from observations and to generalize by abstraction. ANNs have been used in diverse fields such as signal processing, speech and image recognition, control, medical applications and more. Since its introduction into the microwave CAD community in the early 1990s, ANNs have been applied in the microwave area to address the modeling and computational challenges in linear and nonlinear microwave modeling, inverse modeling and design. This talk presents an overview of this area including historical milestones and recent advances, and highlighting the innovations by various researchers in using ANN for microwave design. This talk also provides a discussion on the trends and future directions of ANN for microwave design.
