Ultrasound-Enabled Connectivity for Next-Generation IoT Systems
The next generation of the Internet of Things will at least partially consist of mm-sized batteryless devices that are scattered on the floor, attached to walls, worn on clothing, distributed across large open spaces, etc., with applications in wireless sensor networks, body area networks, and next-generation RFID. This talk will explain how the use of ultrasound for certain key wireless functions can help make this vision a reality. Detailed case studies in wireless power recovery, wake-up signaling, and localization will demonstrate the most important aspects of the design methodology for ultrasound-enabled IoT devices.
