Overview About RF and PA Requirements for 5G NR and Challenges for Hardware Implementation
Future radio access technology has to simultaneously enable human-centric and machine-centric communications. Besides Enhanced Mobile Broadband with significantly improved data rate and coverage, global connectivity for massive machine-type and ultra-reliable low latency communications has to be supported. To deliver such promises wider transmission bandwidths are needed, and hence, the technique of Carrier Aggregation (CA) has been introduced. Further new frequency bands, advanced MIMO, mm-wave radios and large phased-array transceivers are being used. This talk will give an overview about key RF system requirements for 5G NR with respect to the current standard. It will focus on hardware design challenges, technology choice and hybrid integration. Finally aspects for commercialization will be discussed.
