This workshop segment will discuss selected front-end duplexing solutions. The main focus will be on GaN switch based approaches with some discussion of alternative networks suitable for simultaneous transmit and receive (STAR) applications. GaN switch FET theory will be covered, in particular with respect to power handling limitations. This will be followed by a discussion of switch circuit design techniques with examples. Finally STAR compatible front-end solutions will be reviewed including alternate circulator approaches and isolation enhancement techniques with the potential for future monolithic implementation.
