The Limits of Antenna & Interconnect Integration for Large-Scale Phased Arrays
The wireless communication industry is at the verge of an exciting transformation; a shift from broadcast-mode to directed-beam communication in the form of large-scale mm-wave phased arrays. As with most cases, mass deployment of a new technology is constrained by economics. Some of the major costs associated with deployment of large-scale phased array radio-heads is packaging, antenna integration, assembly and factory testing. This workshop presents a broad range of techniques for mm-wave antenna integration up to and beyond W-band frequencies supporting hundreds of active elements with focus on features such as cost-reduction, self-test and calibration. Furthermore, additive manufacturing techniques for disposable mm-wave IoT devices and tags will also be presented.
