Microwave Materials: Dielectric Compositions for Use in High-Frequency LTCC, Filter, Resonator, and Antenna Applications

Dielectric compositions for use in high frequency applications having ranges of k-values (4 –40) have been developed. LTCC dielectric materials were designed with high Q-values, enhanced mechanical properties, and co-fired with Ag internal electrodes. Additionally, ultra-high Q compositions have been specifically designed to have low τf values. Unique additive chemistries were used to promote low temperature sintering, ultra-high Q, and low τf in the dielectrics. Dielectric properties, mechanical properties, and microstructure development are studied as a function of sintering temperature. The electrical and physical characteristics of these compositions make them attractive candidates for a number of high-frequency applications.
