Integrated RFICs in mm-Wave Array Systems for 5G and Beyond

The next generation of communication systems are seeking an ambitious goal: mass deployment of phased array systems for the consumer market. This goal demands that every layer of our network, from the antennas to software layers, to achieve a degree of cost reduction and efficiency comparable to our existing communication infrastructures. Integrated RFICs must include self-test, self-calibration and auto-alignment features combined with nearly endless scalability. Aperture utilization efficiency, material engineering and manufacturing techniques are vital aspects of going beyond the Marconi era of communication. This workshop discusses technology, circuits, and system level considerations of highly integrated large-scale phased arrays for 5G networks. Various deployment challenges and wireless experiments will also be discussed.
