Over-The-Air Characterization and Prediction of Non-Linearity in mm-Wave Arrays

Over-the-air testing is indispensable for characterization of highly integrated RF arrays, where coaxial reference planes are not available. We will discuss measurements and prediction of non-linearity in such (mm-wave) arrays. In relation to this we look at predictive characterization techniques, such as emulation load pull of active array elements. Furthermore, over-the-air measurement and modelling of active antenna elements, as well as over-the-air verification thereof will be discussed and results presented. Finally we will present experiments performed using Chalmers’ mm-wave MIMO testbed MATE. For example, results will be presented of interference experiments at 28GHz obtained using the 8 TX by 2 RX configuration of the MATE testbed.
