Silicon Semiconductor Technologies for the 5G mm-Wave Era and Beyond
The unabated demand for data is expected to grow exponentially in the future. The 5G mm-wave standards promise to enable this vision of ubiquitous connectivity with large bandwidth. Techniques such as beam steering, phased arrays, and massive MIMO are expected to be deployed to overcome some of the communication limitations encountered at mm-wave frequencies. Silicon technologies such as RF-SOI and SiGe BiCMOS that have been customized for mm-wave are in an unique position to service 5G radios. In this talk we will cover the opportunities and challenges for these silicon technologies for optimizing the 5G mm-wave system performance and cost.
