5G mm-wave massive MIMO antenna requires high power for outdoor use case. Silicon technology has a power limitation from the low operating voltage. High power GaN device is suitable for 5G antenna. In this talk, the latest mm-wave GaN technology is introduced. Requirements for various antenna configurations are viewed in terms of semiconductor technology. mm-Wave GaN MMIC power amplifiers are shown and discussed for 5G application.
